2015 Season

Hello Friends and Visitors~

I do hope that you will be able to attend some of the concerts below! This year marks the joyous formation of the Kulios Trio, comprising piano, violin and cello. I’m privileged to be working with two very fine musicians, Sarah Spence (cello) and Joe Harrop (violin), both from the Auckland area. We are having lots of fun rehearsing and there is a real wealth of gorgeous music for piano trio, so we are eager to play for you. March 26th, Thursday, 7:30PM: Viva Cambridge: St. Andrew’s Church, Cambridge. A concert showcasing the diverse musical talent in the town of Cambridge, as part of the Autumn Festival. Melanie Lina, solo piano. Tickets $30.

April 10th, Friday, 12noon: Taupo Lunchtime Concert Series presents the Kulios Trio at St. Andrew’s Church, (Taupo). Admission at the door. Programme will include the ‘Dumky’ Trio of Dvorak, piano works by Bach and Bartok, and the Duo for Violin and Cello by Kodaly.

August 9th, Sunday, 2:30PM: St. Andrew’s Church Concert Series (Cambridge) presents Melanie Lina, solo piano, and the Kulios Trio. Admission $15 at the door. Programme to include Dvorak, Bartok, Kodaly, Chopin and others.

2014 Season

Hello Friends~

2014 began with a number of smaller, private performances which were quite enjoyable. Below you may find the rest of my concerts for the year thus far. I must say the highlight will be performing the much-loved Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto, a piece which I have adored for many years and am privileged to be learning and studying. April 4th, Friday: Taupo Lunchtime Concerts, 12PM–St. Andrew’s Church, Taupo.  Program includes Scarlatti, Beethoven, Chopin, Brahms, Albeniz and Debussy.

April 25th, Friday: ANZAC Reflections with Cantando Choir; 2.30 PM at the Hamilton Gardens Pavilion. For more information, please visit  www.cantando.org.nz.

(Non-performance) June 20-22nd: Adjudicator for the Wellington Piano Plus Festival, sponsored by the Wellington Branch of the Institute of Registered Music Teachers.

Hello friends~As we turn to springtime in the Southern Hemisphere and autumn in the Northern, I’d like to introduce two upcoming solo recitals at which I’ll be performing a new programme: one that includes a theme of farewells, journeys, arrivals, and adventures to distant lands–literally and metaphorically. Southern Hemisphere Winter

I’m pleased to be performing the beautiful Piano Concerto of Robert Schumann on July 20th and 21st in Whangarei and Kerikeri, with the Northland Sinfonia conducted by Nigel Harrison.

On Friday, July 5th, please come to Taupo for a lunchtime concert at 12 noon, where I’ll be playing a 45 minute program at St. Andrew’s Church on Titiraupenga Road.

In August, I will be part of the celebratory ‘Viva Cantando’ concert, given by Cantando Choir at the Gallagher Performing Arts Academy at Waikato University, Hamilton.

I’m busy learning a new solo recital program for the 2014 season, part of which will be debuted at a recital in my very own town of Cambridge, on November 17th this year. Stay tuned for more information on this ‘travel-themed’ program, which I hope will be appealing to my audiences.

Summer and Autumn 2013

I’m looking very much forward to giving a solo recital in NZ’s beautiful capital city of Wellington.

The next evening, February 28th, I’ll be at the Colosseum Bistro in Gisborne. This promises to be a delightful evening of music, food and festivity. I’ll be playing light classical and popular tunes as well as selections from my CD, ‘A New View’, which will be for sale on the night.

During this lovely New Zealand summer, I have the treat of performing with two fine singers for an evening and afternoon of ‘Opera Favourites’ during the Arts Whakatane Festival. Further into the autumn season, I’ll be performing two recitals in the Waikato area.

March 17th, Sunday, 2PM: The Te Awamutu Music Society presents Melanie Lina, pianist, and Elaine Wogan, soprano. Melanie will be performing solo piano works and will then be joined by Elaine for a selection of arias and songs. Concert takes place at The Woolshed, Te Awamutu.

March 24th, Sunday, 2:30 PM:  The South Waikato Music Society presents Melanie Lina in recital at The Plaza, Putaruru.
